• modalyzer ist eine App, die automatisch erkennt, wieviel und mit welchen Verkehrsmitteln ein User täglich unterwegs ist.  Tracked stellt vor, wie sich Mobilitätsmanager und -experten im Laufe einer Woche üblicherweise fortbewegen.

Heute: Christian Maertins leitet das HaCon Mobility Lab in Berlin und ist seit den neunziger Jahren im Themenfeld neuer Mobilität unterwegs. 

Im März war Christian eine Woche mit der modalyzer-App unterwegs. Das Ergebnis ist – das Mobilitätsprofil eines typischen multimodalen Zeitgenossen: Je nach Gelegenheit nutzt und kombiniert Christian im Laufe einer Woche alle möglichen verschiedenen Verkehrsmittel.

Einen halben Kilometer zu Fuß bis zur Tram nimmt Christian in Kauf, wenn er an der letzten Haltestelle auf ein Mietrad umsteigen kann. Fast die Hälfte seiner einzelnen Etappen sind Fußwege, ein weiteres Drittel Fahrten mit dem eigenen oder einem Leihrad. Öffentlichen Nahverkehr und die Bahn nimmt Christian tagsüber und beruflich in Anspruch, in der Freizeit und abends gelegentlich Carsharing und Taxi. Der Mann lebt seinen Beruf.

Tracked: how mobile are the professional experts in new mobility?

• modalyzer is an app that automatically recognizes how much, and with which means of transportation, a user is on the move every day. Tracked explores how mobility managers and experts get around in the course of a normal week.

Today: Christian Maertins directs the HaCon Mobility Lab in Berlin and has been part of the new mobility scene since the 90s, as an engineer, researcher, and product developer.

In March Christian spent a week getting around with the modalyzer app. The result: the mobility profile of a typical, multi-modal, contemporary professional.

Depending on the situation, Christian used and combined every available mode of transport over the course of the week. He hazarded half a kilometer by foot to the tram when he knew that he could transfer to a rental bike right at the last tram stop. Nearly half of the individual legs of his total trips were on foot. The next third were by bike – his own or a rental. Christian made use of public transportation on a daily basis for work, from local trips with subway or commuter rail, to further afield by train. And in his free time he occasionally took a taxi or rented a car-sharing car.

This guy really lives his work.
